A burning piece of newsprint and a forlorn nighttime walk across the Williamsburgh Bridge set the tone for “Oh Brother,” the haunting new video and single from singer-songwriter MaryLeigh Roohan. It’s a raw, heartfelt song about how blood is not always thicker than water.
“The song is a stream-of-conscious reflection on my relationship with my brother and very close friends that I’ve let fade into strangers,” says Roohan. “The video came about when I met Lindsey Copeland, the filmmaker, at one of my shows in New York. ‘Oh Brother’ really resonated with her because of a recent falling out with a friend who was like family to her. I surrendered the creative direction of the video to her entirely and I think we both agree that it yielded a fun, creative collaboration.”
“Oh Brother” is the follow up to Roohan’s full-length Skin and Bone album (Fake Chapter Records) released earlier this year. The single is available on major download and streaming sites, including iTunes and Amazon.
